Help Keep Creativity Alive at Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre
At Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre, our Art Makers are creating more than just art. Through the power of connection and expression, we bring people together in an atmosphere that inspires and uplifts. For people living with a range of disabilities, our workshops are spaces to discover hidden talents, nurture creativity, and realise their full potential. Each weekday, the Centre fills with the joy and energy of Art Makers crafting unique, beautiful works of art. Here, everyone is welcomed, empowered, and celebrated for being themselves. Empathy, respect, and diversity are at the heart of everything we do.
Our workshops offer something for everyone, including Woodwork, Pottery, Horticulture, Performing Arts, Music, Mosaics, Paper, Printing, Jewellery, and Multi-Sensory experiences.
How You Can Help
If you can imagine it, our Art Makers can create it! But to keep this creativity flourishing, we need £60,000.00 each year. With over 175 Art Makers visiting weekly, we rely on essential materials like mosaic tiles, paintbrushes, easels, clay, tissue paper, and paint. Add to this the costs of electricity, heating, and water, vital to keeping our workshops welcoming and safe for everyone, including those with special equipment needs like hoists and bright lighting for visual impairments.
“Coming to the Centre has made a big difference to my life. If I wasn’t here, I would be stuck at home. I have choice here and more freedom. I can decide what I want to do.” — Sam, Art Maker
We take pride in our vibrant, friendly atmosphere, which inspires both Art Makers and visitors alike. With your support, we can continue to provide these life-changing services to our local community.
This Christmas, we invite you to support our Art Makers’ creativity all through 2025 by donating to our 12 Days of Giving Campaign. With your generosity, we can keep empowering people with disabilities to embrace choice and control in their lives. Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre is a unique space for people to learn, laugh, and reach their full potential, and your support will help it thrive.
“I lost my sight as a young child, but not being able to see hasn’t stopped me from fully participating in life. Attending the paper workshop at Henshaws makes me happy. It makes me proud that people see my work, and it’s all thanks to Henshaws.” — Andrew
“Karina’s fellow Art Makers are an amazing group of friendly, accepting, and caring people. She has settled in so well, made lots of friends, and grown so much in confidence.”
“My cerebral palsy and other disabilities are just a small part of who I am. Creating art is something I love.” — Chris
Your support will help us keep this incredible community strong. Join us in giving the gift of creativity, connection, and joy this holiday season. Thank you for being part of the change.
